More from the Bisti Wilderness Area

Bisti Night Fall
In mid-June my father and I took a trip to the Bisti Wilderness Area for a couple days of photography.

This is our third trek out there and I’ve had a great time, and come home with unique photos, every time.

While at the site of the old Bisti Trading Post I happened upon two lizards…they were the most gracious of models staying still and watching me until I had gotten all the photos of them that I wanted.

Bisti Self-Portrait

Of course it’s not the moon, it’s night photography at Bisti. It was a full moon and I think it worked well as a black and white with added grain.

Here is another one from the trip:

Calm at the Rodeo

Last night I had the pleasure of shooting a rodeo for the first time. While I got some action shots I liked I really like this first picture. A calm moment between events.

It didn’t last long, soon the gates opened and it was time for some team roping.

Manhattan city lights from Jersey City

Actually I’m in Jersey City, NJ just across the river from New York…and man is it a terrific view!
My wife and I stayed in New York for one evening and have been in Jersey City for two nights, and on our next trip we have decided we will be staying in Jersey City the entire trip. With 24 hour transportation I can’t think of any reason not to.

Holly Rebelle of Burlesque Noir

For the second year I photographed the Southwest Burlesque Showcase (Formally the New Mexico Burlesque Showcase) in February. Just like last year it was a wonderful high energy event. The girls were all lovely to work with and performed beautifully.

Razor Wire - Outside the New Mexico State Prison

This is another photo from the trip to the New Mexico State Prison. Before we went inside we walked the grounds where this bunch of razor wire had been unwound. It turns out that this type of razor wire is usually packed in a double wind opposing each other (like Concertina wire) This has the benefit of unfurling in an unpredictable manner when cut causing severe harm to whoever is attempting to escape. This stuff is also of the stainless steel variety and still as sharp as can be.

A trip to the Zoo - Some HDR Fun

Flowers at the Zoo

This past week I took a walk around the Rio Grande Zoo to clear my head. My intention for this trip was to attempt hand-held HDR shots of items that I did not have any control over. I have combined the images and done quite a bit of tone mapping to get a look I like.

Prison Self-Portrait

I am mentioned on this page in the Alibi

Thank you all who voted for me!

The two photos for today are both from the old NM State Prison that was involved in the February 2, 1980 riots.
The self-portrait (that is me peeking through the broken window) was shot in the dormitory where the riot was started.
The other photo is of the gas chamber. This gas chamber was used once on August 11, 1960 to put David Cooper Nelson to death. His last words were “OK Warden. God be with you.”

Love Never Dies

After a photo shoot I stayed around and took some more pictures of a couple of my friends, this was one of the photos that I really think captured a moment.
